Fred Balvert

Directeur
Fred Balvert is a science information officer, head of the Congress Office of the Erasmus MC and director of Science Gallery Rotterdam. He has 20 years of experience in science communication for the general public, including as a press officer. He is a lecturer in science communication at the Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences and at the Erice International School of Science Journalism. As a communicator he is involved in many international and European research projects.

Tess de Ruiter

Tess de Ruiter is an art historian and exhibition maker in the fields of art, science and technology. She works within the curator team of Science Gallery Rotterdam and also works as a freelancer writer.

Rawad Baaklini

Curator

Rawad Baaklini is a Lebanese curator and designer based in Rotterdam. He has worked with various curatorial teams in institutions like the Science Gallery network, the Design Academy of Eindhoven, and the MIT Museum in Boston. He also taught at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam.

Wiegertje Groenveld

Advisor

Wiegertje Groenveld is an Angel Investor, Partnership manager, Business Developer and Advisor based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Always curious, always looking around for the new next; be it a person, an idea, a place, or an organization. She is fascinated by the topic of ‘flip-thinking’ in order to find sustainable solutions to the broad range of issues for our world in transition.As part of the Science Gallery team she actively takes part in the development of the SG Programs as brainstormer, moderator and enthusiastic ambassador.

William Myers

Advisor

William Myers is a curator and author based in Amsterdam. His books Biodesign and Bioart profile links between scientific advances and recent developments in art and design; previously, he has worked for MoMA, the Guggenheim Museum, Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt, Science Gallery Dublin, Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam, MU Hybrid Art House, Vitra, MIT Museum, and the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
